About ATSB
The Association Tunisienne des Sciences Biologiques (ATSB), formerly the « Société Tunisienne de Chimie Biologique » (STCB), is a non-profit scientific association. It is the first Tunisian association, founded in 1984, dedicated to promoting biological sciences and biotechnology in Tunisia. ATSB is affiliated with IUBMB, FEBS and FASB.
ATSB is led by a national executive board of 11 volunteer members, all renowned Tunisian scientists. It operates mainly within the university and scientific research sectors. To carry out its mission, it maintains collaborative relationships with several associations and with socio-economic stakeholders connected to biotechnology, medicine and the environment.
To promote biological sciences and biotechnology, ATSB organizes French-speaking international activities, national activities, and especially encourages regional activities run by local branches.

Our history
ATSB is a scientific non-governmental organization. It started in 1984 with 37 members and today counts more than 600 members, all established researchers who are very active in the association's scientific life.
Professor Mohamed Marrakchi presided over the association during the last ten years of his life. Thanks to his sound management and the unifying spirit of its founding members, this nationally very active society is now recognized internationally. It is affiliated with the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB), the Federation of European Biochemical Societies (FEBS) and the Federation of African Societies of Biology (FASB).
